GENTA-COLL® resorb is a hemostatic collagen sponge containing the aminoglycoside antibiotic gentamicin, used to protect against local infections. This medical device is recommended for hemostasis:
– In clean, clean-contaminated and contaminated wounds;
– In cases where there is a high risk of infection;
– In septic surgery, e.g. for revision surgery.
The addition of an antibiotic agent to GENTA-COLL® resorb composition enables hemostasis and reliable wound healing. It also enables collagen sponge protection against a potential pathogen wound infection.
Gentamicin sulphate belongs to the class of aminoglycoside and has a broad antibacterial spectrum.
For certain aminoglycoside antibiotics, a potentially higher substance concentration is crucial for the level of bactericide action and the duration of the post-antibiotic effect. It is scientifically proven that lower levels of activity are not recommended for aminoglycoside in long-term duration, as they promote bacterial resistance.
The product is supplied as a sponge and is available in different sizes.
